Welcome to our new blog! Here, we will post weekly updates on topics such as current events in criminal law (including Travis County, Central Texas, and nationally), updates in DWI law, and anything else we think you might be interested in learning about. But before we begin that, we wanted to take a quick moment to introduce our firm and ourselves.

Attorneys Jarrod Smith and Brad Vinson met as students at Houston College of Law (formerly South Texas College of Law). They began studying together their first semester of law school and quickly learned that they both had a passion for criminal law. Their journey through the remainder of law school taught them more than simply what was needed to pass their classes, or even the Texas Bar Exam. It taught them things like: dedication to get the job done, respect for the law and for the profession, compassion for those less fortunate or in need of assistance, and a duty to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.

Mr. Jarrod Smith completed his undergraduate education at the University of Houston, majoring in criminal justice and graduating with high honors. During his time at Houston College of Law, he completed coursework in criminal advocacy and mock trial, finishing first place, along with Brad Vinson, in the 2015 Garland Walker Mock Trial competition. Upon graduating law school with honors and passing the Texas Bar Exam, Mr. Smith worked as an assistant district attorney for Montgomery County, Texas.

Mr. Brad Vinson completed his undergraduate education at the University of Tennessee, majoring in communication. During his time at Houston College of Law, he also completed coursework in criminal trial advocacy and mock trial, finishing first place, along with Jarrod Smith, in the 2015 Garland Walker Mock Trial competition. Mr. Vinson went on to compete in a variety of mock trial events. He was named 2015 Summer Trial Academy Best Advocate Overall and competed as a varsity advocate in Houston College of Law’s nationally ranked mock trial team.

Mr. Smith and Mr. Vinson have now proudly joined forces in Austin, Texas to form Smith and Vinson Law Firm with the idea of helping accused citizens navigate their way through the complicated criminal justice system. We have the experience, dedication, and passion necessary to fight for each and every one of our clients to fullest extent possible. We hope that you will find our weekly updates here meaningful, informative, and enjoyable. In the meantime, if you or a loved one are facing criminal charges, call us today and let us fight for you!
